A simple and efficient method for quantum Monte Carlo simulation is presented, based on discretization of the action in the path integral, and a Gaussian averaging of the potential, which works well e.g. with the Coulomb potential. Non-integrable hard core potentials can not be averaged in the same way.

The pseudoperturbative shifted l expansion technique PSLET [16-19] is generalized for states with arbitrary number of nodal zeros. Boundstates energy eigenvalues for two truncated coulombic potentials are calculated using PSLET. In contrast with shifted large-N expansion technique, PSLET results compare excellently with those from direct numerical integration.
